Travel League Information

The Penn-Trafford Soccer Club is proud to participate in the PA West travel program at the division 4, 5 and 6 levels.  Division 4 teams will compete against other division 4 teams across all of PA West while the division 5 & 6 programs will play in the PA West Eastern division.  The goal of the PTSC Travel Program is to offer players the opportunity to play soccer at a higher level then the recreational level.  However, it is important that players are aligned with a team that works for their skill level and will allow for continued growth.  For this reason, a tryout process takes place each summer to help the club build out the travel teams for the following season.  All players are required to participate in a tryout, and while the PTSC will make every effort to place as many players as possible, a spot is not guaranteed.

Travel Tryout Process

All players who register for the PTSC Travel Program are required to attend at least one tryout which will be used for team placement.  Players are welcome to attend both scheduled tryout dates as the better tryout score will be used for team placement.  Tryouts will be evaluated by independent evaluators who do not have a child playing in that age group and will not be coaching the age group.  Based on the tryout evaluation along with any previous years coaching evaluation (if the player participated in the prior years travel program) each player will be assigned an overall score.  Players will then be ranked from highest scored to lowest scored to form teams.

The goal of the PTSC is to align players skill level to the appropriate level of competition.  Depending on the number of players in a given age classification, this may include splitting the players into two teams with one team playing at the division 4 level and one team playing at the division 5 level.  This will only be done if the there are enough players to form two teams.

It is the policy of the PTSC that all players play to their true age classification based on their birth year and the US Youth Soccer age classification table.  Player may be asked to play up if needed to fill rosters, however this is based on the need of the PTSC not parent requests.
