Travel League Information

The Penn-Trafford Soccer Club is proud to participate in the PA West travel program at the division 4, 5 and 6 levels.  Division 4 teams will compete against other division 4 teams across all of PA West while the division 5 & 6 programs will play in the PA West Eastern division.  The goal of the PTSC Travel Program is to offer players the opportunity to play soccer at a higher level then the recreational level.  However, it is important that players are aligned with a team that works for their skill level and will allow for continued growth.  For this reason, a tryout process takes place each summer to help the club build out the travel teams for the following season.  All players are required to participate in a tryout, and while the PTSC will make every effort to place as many players as possible, a spot is not guaranteed.

2026-27 Travel Program (2)

This is the registration for the 2026-27 Travel Program. By registering you are indicating that your child will attend a tryout for potential placement on a travel team. There is $25 tryout fee per player with that fee being applied to your registration balance if you accept a bid. If there is not a team to place your child on you will be refunded this $25 fee. All players are required to tryout for the age classification based on their birth date. Upon the conclusion of tryouts, bids will be sent to those who have secured a roster spot. You will have 72 hours to accept the bid and lock in your child's spot. If you do not accept the bid within 72 hours, your child's bid is considered null and void and that spot may be given to another child. Payment of the travel registration fee is required at the time of bid acceptance. You may opt to pay the $455 balance in full ($330 registration fee plus $75 Fall 2026 volunteer fee plus $75 Spring 2027 volunteer fee less the $25 tryout fee) or you may select our 2026-27 Travel Program Payment plan where you will pay $155 at bid acceptance, $150 on September 1, 2026 and $150 on March 1, 2027. Your account must be in good standing to accept a bid for the 2026-27 travel season, therefore any outstanding balances must be paid in full before registering. If you have any questions regarding our tryout process please contact us at [email protected].

The tryouts schedule for the 2026-27 Travel Program is listed below. Every player is required to attend at least 1 tryout night, however you are encouraged to attend both nights if possible. If you have a conflict and cannot make your scheduled night please contact us at [email protected] to work out an alternative arrangement.

  • For the U9 through U12 age classifications, by accepting a bid, you are committing to play the FULL SEASON (Fall 2026 & Spring 2027). Those who cannot commit to the playing both the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 season cannot be guaranteed a roster spot.
  • For the U9 through U12 age classifications, the commitment for the travel program includes attending weekly practices (2 per week) and games (approximately 7 per season). For the U13+ age classifications, the commitment for the travel program includes attending a weekly practice (1 per week) and games (approximately 7 per season).
  • The PTSC reserves the right to cancel any age classification where there are not enough players to form a team. If this occurs, any player who tried out for a cancelled age classification will be refunded their $25 tryout fee.
  • The PTSC reserves the right to combine any age classifications where deemed necessary.
  • The travel program is a tryout based program meaning that not everyone is guaranteed a bid. While we will do everything to place as my children as possible, cuts may need to be made. Any player not offered a roster spot may be offered a "Training Pool" spot meaning that they would be able to train with a travel team and play in games if a weekly roster spot opens, but they will not be on the official team roster.
  • The PTSC reserves the right to adjust rosters as needed between the Fall and Spring seasons.
  • Bids given for the U9 age classification will be for a roster spot, however specific team assignments will not be made until after pre-season practices in late July/Early August.
  • The registration fee includes registration in the annual Plum Kickoff Classic tournament.

Travel Tryout Process

All players who register for the PTSC Travel Program are required to attend at least one tryout which will be used for team placement.  Players are welcome to attend both scheduled tryout dates as the better tryout score will be used for team placement.  Tryouts will be evaluated by independent evaluators who do not have a child playing in that age group and will not be coaching the age group.  Based on the tryout evaluation along with any previous years coaching evaluation (if the player participated in the prior years travel program) each player will be assigned an overall score.  Players will then be ranked from highest scored to lowest scored to form teams.

The goal of the PTSC is to align players skill level to the appropriate level of competition.  Depending on the number of players in a given age classification, this may include splitting the players into two teams with one team playing at the division 4 level and one team playing at the division 5 level.  This will only be done if the there are enough players to form two teams.

It is the policy of the PTSC that all players play to their true age classification based on their birth year and the US Youth Soccer age classification table.  Player may be asked to play up if needed to fill rosters, however this is based on the need of the PTSC not parent requests.

Travel FAQ's

Click HERE for a FAQ on the 2025-26 season

Q: Who is eligible for the Travel Program?
A: Any child who was born between August 1, 2010 and July 31, 2018 can tryout.

Q: Do I have to live in the Penn-Trafford School District?
A: No, we accept players from PT and surrounding areas.

Q: What exactly is the Travel Program?
A: The PTSC participates in the PA West Travel League which is considered a higher level of competition than traditional recreational leagues. Teams are formed based on tryout results and player rankings. PA West dicates roster size for Travel Teams. We typically roster teams from U9 through U16.

Q: How many Travel Teams will there be?
A: While we won't know the exact number of teams until we see how many players tryout, we had 19 travel teams during the 2025-26 season.

Q: What are the requirements to tryout for a Travel Team?
A: There are 2 tryout nights and each player is required to attend at least one night but is welcome to attend both. If a player cannot attend the tryouts as scheduled alternate arrangements can be made.

Q: What is the cost to tryout?
A:There is a $25 tryout fee which will be applied to your registration cost if your child makes a team.

Q: How long does the travel season last?
A: The travel season encompasses the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 seasons. Placement on a team guarantees your child's spot for a full year.

Q: When are Travel games?
A: Travel games are typically scheduled for Sunday's, after 12 noon.

Q: How often do travel teams practice?
A: U9 through U12 Travel teams practice 2 nights a week for 1-1/2 hours each session. U13 and older travel teams practice 1 night a week for 1-1/2 hours.

Q: How does the bid process work?
A: After tryouts, players will be ranked and bids to join the travel program will be sent to the top players based on the number of available roster spots. Once a bid is sent, parents have 72 hours to accept the bid or reject the bid.

Q: How much does the travel program cost?
A: The registration fee is $305 per player for the full year. In addition, each family will be charged a $75 Fall 2026 volunteer fee and a $75 Spring 2027 volunteer fee.

Q: When do I have to pay?
A: Payment is due when a bid is accepted. You may opt to pay in full or you can use our payment plan where $155 is due at bid acceptance, $150 is due on September 1, 2026 and $150 is due on March 1, 2027.

Q: What does my registration fee cover?
A: The registration fee covers the costs of the program including insurance coverage for each player through PA West and participation in the 2026 Plum Kickoff Classic Tournament in August.

Q: How do uniforms work?
A: Each player is required to purchase a uniform kit from our uniform vendor. The kit includes 2 shirts, 1 pair of shorts and 2 pairs of socks. The cost of the kit is approximately $100. A kit is meant to be used for up to 2 season so we recommend buying a little bigger!

Q: What if my child isn't ready for the travel program?
A: We still offer recreational soccer for kids of all ages! We will offer Eagles teams for U10 through U14 in both the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 seasons.

Q: Can children play on both a travel team and an eagles team?
A: YES! In fact, if you are rostered on a travel team you can play on an eagles team for only $15!

Q: Will there be tryouts in the Spring?
A: No. Tryouts only occur in the summer since the travel program is for a full year.

Q: I still have some questions, who can I contact?
A: Send us an email at [email protected] and we'll be happy to answer any of your questions.
